Christopher A. Kearney, Ph.D., is Distinguished Professor of Psychology, Chair of the Department of Psychology, and Director of the UNLV Child
School Refusal and Anxiety Disorders Clinic at the University of Nevada,
Las Vegas. He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, a
licensed clinical psychologist, and the author of numerous journal articles,
book chapters, and books related to school refusal behavior, social anxiety, shyness, and selective mutism in youth. He has also published a work
on general child psychopathology, Casebook in Child Behavior Disorders
(Cengage), and is or has been on the editorial boards of Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, Behavior Therapy, Journal of Clinical Child
and Adolescent Psychology, Journal of Abnormal Child Psychology, Journal
of Psychopathology and Behavioral Assessment, Journal of Anxiety Disorders, and Journal of Gambling Studies. Dr. Kearney has received several
awards for his research, teaching, and mentoring, including the Harry
Reid Silver State Research Award among others. In addition to his clinical
and research endeavors, Dr. Kearney works closely with school districts and
mental health agencies to improve strategies for helping children attend
school with less distress.
